Eating & Drinking
Thredbo
Due to the seasonal nature of Thredbo Village - sometimes it can be hard to find a restaurant that is open or in Winter, not completely booked out. So we recommend always calling and booking ahead if you plan to dine out in Thredbo. Here are our recommendations:
Candlelight ● Burger Bar ● T-Bar ● Denman Apres Bar ● Berntis
Dalgety
The Dalgety Brewing Co (Snowy River Microbrewery) is the perfect scenic drive and dine experience. Stopover in Dalgety for a swim or Platypus spotting. If you don’t have a 4WD take the longer route available from Dalgety to the Brewery (to avoid a water crossing). Once there you can look back on the distant mountains while sipping a beverage and enjoying some lunch. Head back through Berridale and stop in at Shut the Gate and Jindabyne Brewery to make it a round trip!
Dalgety Brewing Co.
Crackenback
We are just up the road from a few cracker restaurants. The Wild Brumby Distillery is the perfect spot for lunch or late arvo beer & grazing board. Crackenback Farm has the best food in the valley but is only open for dinners. The Larder at Lake Crackenback is the only takeaway option!
Wild Brumby ● Crackenback Farm ● Alpine Larder
Berridale
Berridale is worth a little pit stop on your drive in or out of the area, pull in to Shut the Gate to pick up some wine and cheese for your next picnic. They also have beautiful interiors and a courtyard ideal for sipping wine and tasting cheese. Meet You Halfway is the perfect pull-over pit-stop for coffee and treats!
Shut the Gate ● Meet You Halfway
Jindabyne
Jindabyne is the biggest town around for a while, so this is the main spot for supplies and to dine out. The ‘old’ town centre (near Banjo Patterson Pub) is a good spot to stop in for brekky (and dinner options for later too).
Red Door ● CBD Coffee ● ESSpresso ● La Famiglia ● Cocina ● The Brewery ● Holly Go Lightly ● Maya
cooma
Cooma is the main pit stop on your drive from Sydney or Canberra. It has the cheapest petrol options for a few towns (so always worth filling up here before getting to Jindabyne). Cooma has some great cafe’s. Here are our recommendations:
The lott Cafe ● The courtyard & flower pantry ● Kettle & Seed ● Kuma Pies
Shopping
Supermarkets
There are a few places to get supplies nearby. Woolworths in Jindabyne is the biggest, with smaller local grocers located in Jindabyne’s ‘old shops’, Thredbo Village. There is also an (expensive) but conveniently located store at Lake Crackenback Resort.
Woolworths ● Friendly Grocer ● Foodworks Thredbo ● Lake Crackenback
Galleries
Pop in for a stroll around one of the most iconic attractions in the Snowy Mountains. Located in a beautifully restored church in the main street of Cooma, the Charles Davis Photography Gallery features a collection of Charles’ most popular and award winning photographs, as well as the Kunama Book and giftware.

Boardstores
You’re in the mountains so we don’t have surf shops but we do have board stores. Great for outdoor and adventure gear suited to the alpine areas - perfect for if you forgot to pack that warm layer or a hat. ESS Board Store also has a cafe with the best toasties in town and Rhythm usually has the cheapest ski rentals.
Ess Board Store ● Rhythm board store ● Jindabyne Sports ● First Tracks
Homewares
If you are looking to add a touch of the alpine to your own home these are the shops to peruse. Both of these stock a great collection of homewares with a touch of The Snowy Mountains.
Design & Detail ● Alpine Abode
Outdoor Gear
These stores have the high-tech equipment you need to best explore the extreme environments in the mountains. These shops stock year-round technical equipment and gear, in summer these are your spots to grab bike gear and hiking boots.
Larry Adler ● Gravity ● Wildnerness Sports ● Sacred Ride ● High Country Outfitters
Op Shopping
Jindabyne Op Shop is only rarely open but always worth a visit if you manage to catch it! Hit up Vinnies or Salvos in Cooma to see if you can find any treasures. There is also a great antique shop with lots of snippets of history located in the centre of Cooma not far from Vinnies.
